Current repainting of an area of Hogwarts Castle. Different sections have different stages of progress. Moss has been applied as a masking device. Paint is washed over the moss, and when the moss is removed there will be lichen-looking age spots in the surface.

Algae texture added as random spots on stone being repainted in the Hogwarts Castle refurbishment. Zoom into the first photo ... the algae has depth! The stone color variations have become more appealing and natural now. After overall translucent stone colors were applied.
